The New Jersey Department of Labor (NJDOL) is currently accepting comments on a proposal to enforce new rules that labor attorneys warn will eliminate the ability of Owner Operator truck drivers and other independent contractors to work in the State of New Jersey. If these proposed rules are put into effect, it will have a crippling impact on the port community and our ability to keep the Supply Chain moving.
It is essential that we push back immediately and express strong opposition to this disastrous proposal. Comments on Proposed New Rules: N.J.A.C. 12:11 are due by August 6th, but we urge you to submit your comments as soon as possible, in advance of the June 23rd Public Hearing that is being held in Trenton.
You can read an in-depth analysis of the proposal HERE.
