Newark, NJ — The Association of Bi-State Motor Carriers is proud to announce that Federal Maritime Commission Chairman Mario Cordero has been chosen to receive the 2016 Malcom McLean Award at the Association’s upcoming Golf Outing and Awards Luncheon, to be held on Tuesday August 2, 2016 at Forsgate Country Club in Monroe Township, NJ.   The award is dedicated in memory of Malcom McLean, the visionary who invented shipping containerization and revolutionized the international freight industry, and is the highest honor bestowed by the Bi-State at their Awards ceremony each year. A Statement from the Association of Bi-State Motor Carriers

This week, numerous news reports have documented the unacceptable level of traffic and congestion along the NJ Turnpike leading into the Port of New York & New Jersey, particularly at Global Terminal-Bayonne. The Association of Bi-State Motor Carriers is committed to working with terminal operators and regulatory authorities to conceive and implement long-term solutions to the chronic congestion issues that plague the port, but we believe the extreme traffic conditions experienced over the past several days are a clear indication that immediate action must be taken. Bi-State Motor Carriers Testify at Federal Maritime Forum on Port Congestion

Association President warns: “It’s choking the lifeblood out of our industry.”

Port Newark, NJ – Jeffrey Bader, the President of the New Jersey-based Association of Bi-State Motor Carriers, testified this afternoon at a forum hosted by the Federal Maritime Commission in Baltimore, Maryland. Bader was invited to address the FMC to share his insight on the severity of port congestion at Port Newark, its adverse effect on the trucking industry and industry-related businesses, and what can be done to help.
